What is CGHS

Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a health scheme for serving / retired Central Government employees and their families.

Who is eligible for CGHS?

All Central Govt. employees and their dependant family members residing in CGHS covered areas.

What is the limit of CGHS?

After providing treatment/diagnosis, the HCOs submit the medical claims to the Bill Clearing Agency (BCA), which scrutinizes the bills and forwards to the CGHS for final approval. Thereafter, CGHS scrutinizes 10 per cent of bills upto ₹ 10,000, 25 per cent of bills upto ₹ 25,000 and 100 per cent bills above ₹ 25,000.

Is CGHS treatment cashless?

The sailent features of this initiative are as under: Cashless treatment will be available in outpatient departments (OPD), investigations, and indoor treatment for CGHS pensioners and other eligible categories of beneficiaries.

How do I get a CGHS card?

Central government new employees or pensioners can apply online for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) plastic card. Government employees or pensioners can apply for CGHS plastic card by filling an online form. CGHS beneficiaries without plastic card can also apply for the plastic card.

Can CGHS card be used anywhere?

“Now that computerization of all CGHS covered cities has been completed, the plastic cards are valid in all CGHS cities in India and there is no need for obtaining temporary attachment while on a visit to another CGHS city.

Is CGHS better than health insurance?

The CGHS scheme is a much broader concept of health insurance. So before taking the CGHS scheme, it is recommended that you understand the various components of the scheme. Broadly the following medical services can be availed under the health insurance central government scheme: Dispensary services.

What type of card is CGHS?

All beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) are provided with a plastic card that contains a photo of the beneficiary along with a distinctive beneficiary ID number.

How do I claim my medical bills from CGHS?

The claim is to be submitted at the CGHS wellness Centre where the beneficiary is registered. On verification as per check list if the claim is found to be complete with all documents then an acknowledgement will be generated with a claim number in the computer module of the wellness Centre.
